Rare cut-stitch panel, Italy, 2nd half of the 16th century. In dark ivory hand-spun and hand-woven linen, needle-embroidered with eight horizontal bands in cut-stitch and Reticella, each decorated with different motifs in the spirit of Matteo Pagano's "Giardinetto Nicovo" or Giovanni Ostaus' "La Vera Perfettione del disegno" pattern books. Pompon at each corner. Dim. 71 cm x 20,5 cm (good condition, some stains on the reverse)
