Very important set of 71 signed autograph letters and cards, all addressed to the lawyer and friend of naturalists Gabriel Thyébaut (1854-1922). 43 L.A.S. and 28 C.A.S. (including three c.v.a.s.). Paris, Fontenay-aux-Roses and Ligugé, February 1881 - December 1899. Approximately 96 pp. in-8, in-12 or in-16 oblong. 14 preserved envelopes. Exceptional correspondence from Huysmans, addressed to his great friend Thyébaut, in which he mentions many personalities of the literary and artistic world of his time: the publishers Charpentier, Kistemaeckers "pour mon Monsieur Folantin" [A Vau-l'eau], Stock or Vanier; his friends Henry Céard, Émile Zola, Robert Caze, Georges Landry, Léon Hennique, Arij Prins, Louis Félix Bescherer, his mistress Anna Meunier, Dr. Gustave Meyer, and his friends in the literary and artistic world. Johannes, Prince Ourousoff, the painter Albert Dubois-Pillet, Alexis-Louis Orsat, Paul Alexis, etc., etc. He lists his outings, the countless Thursdays at Émile Zola's, etc. Huysmans and naturalism: "If you have nothing better to do, would you like to come on Sunday to J.K.'s in Fontenay-aux-Roses. We'll do some intimate walks. Here's the order of the day: Leave, if you have the courage, by the tramway of St Germain des Prés - around a quarter to nine o'clock.
