Small accidents, but good general condition. Control mark : boar's head, circa 1860. Goldsmith's mark : HJE*, unidentified. H. : 13 cm - Diam. : 5 cm. Matrix : Diam. : 4,2 cm. History : Radama II (1829-1863) was a Malagasy king who reigned over the kingdom of Madagascar from 1861 to 1863. Contrary to the preceding monarch, Ranavalona I, who defended the idea of an independent Madagascar, Radama II changes completely of course. He proclaimed the freedom of worship and opened the doors of the kingdom to Europeans. This displeased the majority of the country's notables who decided to have him assassinated.
