LADY'S Wristwatch. BY HENRI LYON, PARIS, 1919. Belonging to Queen Victoria-Eugenie of Spain (1887-1969), as can be seen on the wrist of the sovereign's right hand in the document opposite. Barrel-shaped model, in platinum, with a diamond-set clamshell lid, opening to a steel dial with black-painted Arabic numerals and blued steel hands. Mounted on a flexible bracelet entirely set with old-cut diamonds, (about 12 carats), with safety chain. Attached is a copy of the first and last pages of "The appraisal and taxation of the jewels of Her Majesty Victoria-Eugenie, Queen of Spain on the basis of a partition value", made in Lucerne, March 20, 1970, signed E. Gübelin. An old advertisement by the jeweller Henri Lyon, which shows the model of the watch we are presenting, and a handwritten note bearing the inscription: "Succession S.M. La Reine, intérêts Duchesse". The Duchess in question was the second wife of the Infante Jacques de Bourbon, Duke of Segovia. Title stamp: dog's head, Paris, 1919. Jeweler's stamp: Henri Lyon. L.: 15.5 cm. Gross weight: 34.40 g. Provenance: this charming watch, which belonged to the Queen of Spain, née Princess Victoria-Eugénie de Battenberg, was bequeathed by inheritance to her son, Prince Jacques-Henri de Bourbon, Infante of Spain and Duke of Segovia (1908-1975), who gave it to his second wife, née Charlotte Tiedemann (1919-1979).
