Napoleon Bonaparte dressed as the First Consul of the Republic. A fine glass impression of an oval and curved intaglio, mounted as a pendant in a gold frame topped by a gold bélière. Signed on the left side: "Harris" and identified at the bottom "Bonaparte". Preserved in its original red morocco case, bearing the label "Harris, Gem and Seal, Engraver, Pall Mall, n°22". Good condition. English work, early 19th century. Diameter : 9,5 cm - H. : 3 cm. Gross weight : 19 g. History: when Napoleon Bonaparte became consul for life on August 2, 1802, after a plebiscite, his profile appeared on coins and a large number of objects commissioned from the greatest artists of the time bore his effigy. The artist, engraver of fine stones and medals, is mentioned in the book La gravure en pierres fines, camées et intailles, by Ernest Babelon, published by Quantin, Paris, 1894, page 297.
