Four handkerchiefs, Mechelen and Point de... - Lot 260 - Coutau-Bégarie
Four handkerchiefs, Mechelen and Point de Paris, fuseaux, Belgium, end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. Framed in fine bobbin lace, three in Mechelen lace, one decorated with hunters and stags (good condition, washed, bleached, a few pale linen stains), one with a floret of flowers on either side of cartouches decorated with various stitches, the centre in hand thread with rows of end days and a complex figure decorated with a knotted ribbon embroidered with plumetis (mint condition), one decorated with large carnations and cartouches with four-leaf clovers, in the spirit of 18th century Mechelen lace, AN number under knotted ribbon and count's crown very finely embroidered in a corner (good general condition, small resumption in the central linen) and a fourth handkerchief framed in Point de Paris with repeating decoration of a flowery vase between two hawks, JP number finely embroidered in a corner (washed, bleached, pale spots and small holes in a corner)
