Rare document of a canvas printed in tontisse, circa 1720, strong hemp canvas printed in orange tontisse; decoration in reserve of stylized poppies, garlands of flowers and scrolled medallions, 77 x 36 cm. About flocked canvases Clouzot notes in his Histoire du papier peint that in Paris "sieur Aubert set up a factory of velvety canvases, very different from tontisses and very superior to the papers of England which must be glued on canvas and still cause the expenses of the stretchers".
