Nymphs in the undergrowth, circa 1890-1900 Folded fan, the skin sheet painted with a farandole of nymphs in the poetic vapours of an undergrowth. Signed "A. Ravaux" on the left. Border of flowers in needle lace. Dumb reverse. Blonde tortoiseshell** mount richly cut, carved and engraved in the 18th century taste, with musical instruments and baskets of flowers in pearl effect borders. Bracket. H.t. 35,3 cm H.f. 22 cm (small freckles) In a box, covered with cream silk, and bearing the address of the jewellery house Tiffany in New-York. N.B. : the painter Ravaux is known to have signed the fan leaf in homage to the fan maker Ernest Kees in 1893, today in the collections of the Musée de l'Éventail in Paris. Is also known Rose Ravaux, fan painter, present at the "Exhibition of Women's Arts" at the Palais de l'Industrie in 1892
