L. Langelier, The Oracle, 1878 Folded fan leaf, painted skin of two young women reaching into the hollow of a rock to hear an oracle. A child hidden behind the rock is the source of the subterfuge. Signed and dated on the left "L. Langelier/ 1878". Signed on the right "Ed Creusy Paris". Dumb reverse. H.f. 14,7 cm (dismantled) N.B. : Marie-Louise Langelier, pupil of Lavasseur and Donzel. She made her debut at the 1877 Salon. She "mainly painted fan leaves" according to Bénézit
