Nicodème dans la lune, circa 1790 Folded fan, the double sheet of paper engraved and enhanced with gouache with three illustrated cartels based on the play "Nicodème dans la lune", one of the greatest successes of the last years of the 18th century. In the center "L'arrivée (sic) de lempereur (sic)". On the left, "Nicodème in the salon of the Emperor (sic)"; on the right, "Nicodème speaking to the Minister whom he takes for the Emperor (sic)". Nicodemus leaves the earth to escape the Revolution. Reverse: couplets of two "Rondes de Nicodème dans la lune" by Cousin Jacques. Ivory mount*.
