The Queen of Sheba, circa 1740-1750 Folded fan, the double gouache-painted paper sheet of a sovereign welcoming a woman and her maids who offer him gifts. Soldiers on the right. Reverse: a pipe player trying to seduce a shepherdess. Ivory frame*, carved with loves and birds, burgundy and heightened in colours. The upper part of the plumes in mother-of-pearl. H.t. 26,8 cm H.f. 11,8 cm (missing, worn and restored)
