SINCE Adolphe (1824-1891). Very interesting... - Lot 516 - Coutau-Bégarie
SINCE Adolphe (1824-1891). Very interesting autograph manuscript diary, written by Adolphe Dupuis, containing a precise inventory of all the shows, comedies and plays performed at the Michel Theatre in St. Petersburg and at the Imperial Court of Russia during the period of his engagement from September 15, 1860 to May 29, 1877, followed by all the accounts, receipts and expenses during this period for all the shows in question. Each day he notes the name of the show performed, the names of the main actors, including his own when he performed on stage, the places where these events were given, but above all he specifies by a capital letter the names of the members of the imperial family attending the performance. For example E: Emperor Alexander II; I: Empress Maria Alexandrovna; GDH: Grand Duke Heir (later Alexander III); GDHe: Grand Duchess Heir (later Maria Feodorovna); GDA: Grand Duke Alexis Alexandrovitch; GDW: Grand Duke Wladimir Alexandrovitch; GDH: Grand Duchess Hélène Petrovna; GDMa: Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna; GDM: Grand Duke Michel Nicolaïévitch; GDG: Grand Duke Georges: GDMl: Grand Duke Michel Nicolaïévitch, etc... He also notes some important political events, forcing the theatre to close its doors. Text in French, 172 pages, folio format, bound in purple percaline, worn out by time, as is.
