This famous French actor played from 1860 to 1877 at the Théâtre Michel (or French Theatre) in Saint Petersburg. His talent was soon recognized and appreciated by the members of the Russian Court. Empress Maria Alexandrovna personally attached him to her sons as a teacher of French diction, and he became a reader for the children of Tsar Alexander II and the organizer of literary festivities given at the Imperial Court. During this period, as soon as a show was successful in Paris on any stage, Dupuis staged it at the Théâtre Michel with a care, a perfection that often surpassed the Parisian edition. Thus, in 17 years, pieces from a signed repertoire were successively staged: Scribe, Dumas, Sardou, Augier, Octave Feuillet, Labiche, Halèvy, Daudet and many others. And according to his diary, which we are putting on sale under the number 516, he played and had more than 47 events applauded in the Russian capital.
