PAIR OF CANDLE HOLDERS.
In dark green lacquered bronze, applied with three finely chiselled gilt bronze goat heads supporting the tap, the shaft resting on three lion claws on a sphere, ending on a cylindrical base with chiselled decoration of shells and flowers.
Slight wear of time, but quite good general condition.
Russian work, circa 1780/1800.
Height: 35, 5 cm - Diameter: 15 cm.
History: a similar model can be seen on the desk of Prince Felix
Yusupoff (1887-1967), in the winter salon of the Arkhangelskoye palace (see illustration opposite), near Moscow, see in reference the work: Arkhangelskoye a country estate of 18 th and 19th centuries, published by Aurora Editions, Leningrad, 1984, pages 46 and 48. A similar pair was sold on November 4, 2016 in the Coutau-Bégarie sale, dedicated to the collection of Prince Félix
