ROMANOVSKY, Georges (Uriy) Dimitiévitch (1877-1939), général-lieutenant
Autograph letter signed "Uriy Romanovsky", Belgrade, 16 June (no year, probably 1924) addressed to Prince Serge Georgievitch Romanovsky (1890-1974), 4 pages, in- 4°, text in Russian. Good condition. Translation: "Your Highness, allow me to express my feelings of deep gratitude for your letter and your confidence in me. I am very happy that Your Highness shares my convictions on the current state of the Union and its importance. In the draft, you will understand the purpose of our aspiration. This project has already received the approval of some officers' organizations in other countries. Unfortunately after the destruction of the Paris Union by the Baron, the creation of the new Union has slowed down. Certainly Belgrade cannot play the role of the centre. The departure of Soulevitch was a hard blow for us. I'm afraid that events in France are very unfavorable for us. Alas, we must admit that the French do not understand that their victories (...) without Russia. I shall look forward to hearing from Your Highness. Your judgment remains fundamental to our case. Your humble servant."
