ROMANOVSKY, Prince, Serge Georgievich, 8th Duke of Leuchtenberg (1890-1974). Interesting typed historical document, draft of a letter addressed to the Grand Duke Nicholas Nikolayevich of Russia (1856-1929), sent from New York, October 1925, 1 page ½, in-folio, text in Russian. Folds, but good general condition. Interesting document concerning the personal belongings of Emperor Nicholas II in the USA. In this letter, the prince explains that an administrator has just been appointed by the New York court by the government to make an inventory of it. Concerned by this procedure, the Prince proposes to hire a lawyer to defend the Emperor's cause. Translation: ''Your Imperial Highness, at the beginning of October of this year, it became mandatory for me to inform you that according to reliable sources the United States of America was going to take possession of the estate of Emperor Nicholas Alexandrovich in their country. According to the American laws, the state can announce the transfer to its benefit of unclaimed property after 8 years belonging to the sovereign (...)''.
