IGNATIEFF Olga Alexeïévna comtesse (1896-1949), dame d'honneur de l'impératrice Maria Féodorovna de Russie
Autograph letter signed ''Olga Ignatieff'', Paris, October 27, 1929, addressed to Prince Serge Georgievitch Romanovsky, 8th Duke of Leuchtenberg (1890-1974), 2 pages, folio, text in Russian. Good condition. Translation: 'Your Highness, dear Serge Georgievich, I hope you will not judge me too badly for these few lines. Believe me, they were born from the extreme necessity to write to you about boring and unpleasant things. Stefan [Count Tyszkiewicz (1899-1976) husband of Princess Elena Gueorguievna Romanovsky, sister of the addressee] wrote to me a month ago telling me that he would be in Paris in October and that he hoped to pay me on that date. But since then I haven't heard from him, he remains silent to all my requests. (...) Neither he nor Elena [Princess Romanovsky] answers anymore (...) I am sure that you believe in my affection and friendship towards Elena and you know that my salary is my only resource for mother and me. Since I haven't received anything for a few months, my friends lent me some money to live on. But they also need money themselves and can't wait any longer. They are asking me to pay it all back by November 15 at the latest (...). Knowing that Elena is very embarrassed to tell me that they don't need me, I wrote to her myself that I was looking for another job. (...)'
