Set of 9 L.A.S. and C.A.S.: "Lyautey", addressed to Countess Xavier de Villeneuve-Bargemont, née Yvonne Laffleur de Kermaingant, lady-in-waiting of the Duchess of Guise (1873-1967), dating from 1918 to 1930, various sizes, some letters are on letterheads with her name on them, two of which are preserved with their original envelopes. A dinner invitation in the name of the marshal is attached. Text in French, 19 pages. Text: - July 24, 1918: "How touched I am by your attention to have sent me the memento of the dear colonel. We will keep it here in a very pious memory. I have not returned to Oujda since his death and I am heartbroken to think that I will not find him there (...)" - July 10, 1920 : "Your testimony touches me above all else. I am leaving for the country, but I will be back around the 18th, very happy to see you (...)" - No date: "Your letter was given to me too late for me to try to see you tonight and you are leaving tomorrow. But I have a very great desire to see you, and since you are coming back on Monday, I urge you to send me a note telling me of your return, so that I may ask you to come and see me during the day between the 5th and 7th. I am not going out yet, I do not get up until 2 or 3 o'clock in the afternoon and...reserve my effort for obligations (...)" - No date: "I received your kind letter, I have been much more tired these days and am forced to spare myself as much as possible, that is why I do not give you an appointment this afternoon and have asked you to do me the honour of coming to dine with us. There'll be some nice Americans and Belgians there and I think we can talk (...)"
