Set of 15 L.A.S.: "Philippe comte de Paris", addressed to Count Paul Laffleur de Kermaingant (1843-1920), dating from 1879 to 1893, various formats, some letters are on letterheads on behalf of the different residences of the prince: Randan castle, Stowe House, Loch Kennard lodge and 57 rue de Varenne. Attached is 1 L.A.S. from the Prince's secretary, dated May 15, 1884, 31 pages. Text in French Text: - Château d'Eu, July 31, 1880: "The Countess of Paris and I are very touched by your letter and by what you say to each other on the occasion of the birth of our son Jacques. I thank you from the bottom of my heart that you thought of this happy event." - Cannes, April 14, 1881: "A few days ago, I received your letter announcing the mailing of the cartulary of the Abbey of Le Tréport which you have just published. This work is undoubtedly waiting for me at the Château d'Eu, which I left three weeks ago. You were right to believe that I would study with pleasure and that I would be happy to place in the library of the château d'Eu this interesting document for the history of the region where I live." - Paris, 13th May '85: "I thank you for your letter, for the frankness with which you answered me. But I deeply regret the determination that you have shown me and I still hope that you will give in to your friends' requests. If you are still in Paris next Tuesday the 19th, I shall be delighted to see you that day at four o'clock. In any case, believe me" - Château d'Eu, December 9, 85: "I could not doubt the part you would play in the cruel mourning that befalls the Countess of Paris and me. We are very touched by the way you express it to me. The loss of this young and valiant King of Spain is indeed both a great personal loss for us and a great political misfortune.
