FRAME CONTAINING PRECIOUS RELIQUES APPEARING TO THE ROYAL FAMILY OF FRANCE. Oval in shape, made of natural wood surmounted by a ribboned knot holding a decoration, containing as the handwritten inscription on the reverse states: "This frame contains hair of Madame la Duchesse d'Angoulême, hair of Monseigneur le duc d'Angoulême, hair of Madame la Duchesse de Berry, hair of S.King Charles X, hair of His Lordship the Count of Chambord and of the Duchess of Parma. There was a piece of the cord of the Holy Spirit which my lord the Duke of Berry was wearing on February 13, 1820 when he was assassinated by (...), a fragment of the white silk dress of the Duchess of Berry stained with the blood of the prince..., a little of the envelope of the garlic clove of Louis XVIII rubbed the lips of Henry V as it was done for Henry IV. Of all this, there is below the authentication that M de Valhaire, grandson of the Duchess of Berry's own chambermaid - The piece of cord (...)" Below this inscription appears a second note, also handwritten, which says "I declare that the objects (...)".I declare that the objects (...) left, hair of the royal family, pieces of the dress worn by the Duchess of Berry on 13 February 1820 touched with the blood of her husband and a piece of the large cord worn at (...) the day of her assassination are perfectly authentic, having been received from my grandmother Madame de Valhaire, first wife of H.R.H. Madame Duchess of Berry, Bordeaux on 6 August 1881, L de Valhaire". Good condition. Frame: H.: 13.5 cm - L.: 8.5 cm.
