ÉCOLE FRANÇAISE
Cutaway views of the Temple Prison. Set of four ink drawings, bearing the following handwritten annotations: an exterior view of the prison of the "Temple as it was in 1792, on August 13 when the royal family was locked up", a cross-sectional interior view of the ground floor where "King Louis XVI was locked up until the day of his execution on October 16, 1793", a cross-sectional interior view of the "2nd floor of the small Tower where the queen was housed upon her arrival on August 13, 1793", a cross-sectional view "of the 3rd floor of the small Tower where the king was housed upon his entrance to the Temple on August 13, 1792". This is a very interesting set of documents that shows the exact location of the rooms of the royal family, their furniture and their guardian. The whole set is mounted on paper and kept under glass. Uses as is. French work, late 18th century. H.: 35 cm - L.: 41.5 cm.
