TABATIÈRE. In black tortoiseshell, round in shape, decorated on the lid with a miniature portrait painted on ivory representing Queen Marie-Antoinette as Diana the Huntress, kept under curved glass in a gilded copper frame. Inside there is a handwritten note with the inscription: "Portrait of Marie-Antoinette as Diana on the occasion of the celebrations for the birth of the dolphin, painted by Loq..t in 1779". Slight accidents, but good general condition. French work from the 18th century. Height: 2 cm - Diameter: 8.5 cm. Provenance: former collection of Alain Bancel (1927-2002), then sale of his estate at Piasa Paris - May 21, 2003 under No. 283.
