Diploma of the Silver Medal (Nicham Imtiyaz), also known as the Medal of Merit, awarded to the famous and talented Albanian writer and presented in the name of the Ottoman Sultan of the time Abdülhamid II (1842-1918). Manuscript piece in Arabic calligraphy in black ink and gold, dated 16 of the month Cemaziul Evvel of the year 1300 (1882). At the bottom of the document is a manuscript piece bearing the French translation of the said document, the whole is preserved in a modern blackened wooden frame. Folds, but good condition. At sight: H.: 33 cm - L: 31.5 cm. Frame: H.H: 52, 5 cm - L: 42, 5 cm Translation: "We, dominating the east and west, possessing the holy cities of Mecca, Medina and Jerusalem, having the right to give orders and titles to, among other things, any person who has contributed to the culture, finance and public works of our empire, Decide that Chemseddin Sami Bey, author, man of letters and Secretary General of the Army Inspection Commission, is entitled to the Silver Medal, according to the regulations in force, for service to culture, in witness whereof he is hereby awarded this certificate and Silver Medal. The present Imperial Order is at the same time issued to him in accordance with the regulations, with seals and authorized signatures dated the sixteenth day of the month cemaziul evvel of the year thirteen hundred of our Holy Year of the Hegira".
