* The old man with the cane or the Berber chief. Beautiful bronze sculpture with a nuanced green patina, signed on the terrace by the artist "R. Hautot", dated 1921, with the mark of the foundryman Montagutelli in Paris. Good general condition. H.: 61 cm - L.: 22 cm - W.: 18, 5 cm. History: The Montagutelli brothers were among the greatest foundrymen of the beginning of the 20th century, many of Rodin's works were melted in their workshops. Rachel-Lucy Hautot, is a famous French orientalist sculptor of Norman origin. Passionate about Africa and the Orient, she spent most of her life in Tunisia. She was very quickly famous, and her fame was international. Her sculptures, quite rare and very sought-after, can be seen in private collections and museums in France and abroad, notably in the Thomas-Henry Museum in Cherbourg. She lived the last years of her life in Tunis, where she was murdered on 29 December 1935.
