Boteh in colors, circa 1820-1830 Rare fan composed of palmettes in embossed cardboard, cut in the shape of "boteh" characteristic of the paisley pattern, tinted in shades of green, yellow, white and pink. This type of fan is called "Ombré", and sometimes called "Jocko fan" in reference to a play that was popular in the 1820s. Bone frame pierced with a foliage effect. The plumes are enhanced with cut-out brass plates. H.t. 25 cm (wear, restorations, broken thread) Provenance: label with the reference 1922 corresponding to the former collection of Henry-René d'Allemagne (1863-1950). See H.
