Player in the Middle of Summer, China, late 19th century Folded fan, the cream silk leaf painted with hills overlooking a bay. On the waves sails a boat. The drawing is by the Chinese painter Yo Yunqing. Calligraphy on the left and red stamp (堂卿Tangqing 二吉Erji). Ink calligraphy paper reverse, on inlaid gold fragments with four successive poems about "Anguo Temple," one from Chu Suiliang 褚遂良 (597-658) "The Sacred Teaching at the Wild Goose Pagoda," the third on "The Inscription of Wang Jushi's Brick Tower," and the last from "Ling Fei Jing." Red stamp on the left. Natural bamboo mounting for the throat and zebrawood plumes. Attached is an old label of the "heritage store", with a red wax seal relating to the export of cultural goods.
