The poppies, circa 1904 Rare polychrome lace fan from Courseulles with poppy decoration mixing green, red and yellow colours. Each flower is bordered with a yellow thread. Mother-of-pearl goldfish frame engraved, silver and gold with flower decoration. Metallic bead. H.t. N.B.: this coloured lace was made by the workshops of Courseulles-sur-Mer in Normandy, according to drawings by Félix Aubert, for fans offered in particular by the "Maison moderne" of Julius Meier-Graefe, a competitor of the Bing company in Paris. This model is referenced by C. and M. Bouvot-C. Hervieux, Dentelles normandes en éventails, 2015, p. 151. Each fan leaf design was executed in triplicate. A similar fan was presented for sale on 16 December 2017 at De Baecque in Lyon in shades of pink, mauve and green (now part. coll.).
