Campana was the miniature painter of Queen Marie-Antoinette, whose Princess of Taranto was one of the fifteen ladies in waiting. We compare this miniature to a reduced, oval and bust version of the Princess of Taranto by Campana, identified on a box to the right of the portrait of her sister the Duchess of Uzès (in the catalogue of Galerie Jaegy-Théoleyre).
