SERGE GAINSBOURG (1928/1991) & BORIS VIAN (1920/1959): A piston trumpet belonging to the jazz and dance club "Le Tabou", located at 33 rue Dauphine in Paris. Inaugurated on April 11, 1947, this Parisian club quickly became a favorite meeting place for night owls and intellectuals. A Mecca for existentialists. Among the first musicians to perform there was Boris Vian, who founded a small jazz orchestra with his brothers. Juliette Gréco recited poems by Raymond Queneau and sang songs by Jacques Prévert. On Boris Vian's death in June 1959, pianist Henri Renaud gave this piston trumpet to Serge Gainsbourg, as it was with this trumpet that Vian accompanied Gainsbourg when he performed his first songs on the piano at Le Tabou.
