(Some lacks) Giuseppe Vaccaro, son of the sister of the great sculptor Giacomo Bongiovanni (1772-1859) was born in 1809 and joined his uncle in the store of Caltagirone in Catania where he was introduced to the art of terracotta. Perceptive and endowed with a keen sense of observation, he creates sculptures with natural postures with realism and vivacity of expression. He is known for depicting short scenes of popular and peasant life. He died in 1889.
