Portrait of Princess Alice of Hesse, born Princess of Great Britain (1843-1878). Miniature on ivory of oval form painted in 1863, by G. Jaija (??), as indicated on the reverse, preserved under a curved glass in a gilt brass frame. Slight accident, but good condition. Sight : H. : 6 cm - W. : 5 cm. History: third child of Queen Victoria, she married on July 1, 1862 at the age of 19, the heir to the throne of Hesse, Prince Louis IV (1837-1892), from this happy union were born 6 children, of which the youngest, Princess Alix, became the last empress of Russia, under the name of Alexandra Feodorovna by marrying in 1894, the future Nicolas II.
