HUGO Victor (1802-1885)
L.A.S.: "B. D...", addressed to Victor Hugo, August 12, 1826, in-4°, 2 pages. Tears, but good general condition. Letter concerning the exhibition organized by the French Society of Philanthropy in favor of the Greeks in 1827, in which Victor Hugo wishes to lend a painting by M. Boulanger. This letter is addressed to the first home of the Hugo couple, destroyed today, where Léopoldine (1824) and her brother Charles (1826) were born. The couple was then neighbors of Alfred de Vigny and also of Sainte-Beuve who will be the godfather of Léopoldine and the lover of Victor Hugo's wife for a while. Hugo's ego was affected and he put an end to his friendship with Sainte-Beuve.
