Domaine de Bricquebec (Manche) State of what my lord the baron de Breteuil ordered to be done provisionally, August 26, 1788 (3 pages in-folio), signed and dated by the baron de Breteuil. Memorandum concerning works and improvements to be foreseen in the castle and the park of Bricquebec, as well as sums to be paid for servants or farmers: repairs in the chapel, fabrication of cupboards to keep the charters and archives, installation of an iron pump for the public well of the rue de Bailly, creation of a canal or aqueduct to bring water to the fountain of the Ladies, clearing, digging of ditches, plantations, etc. The castle of Bricquebec (Manche) had been bought by the Marshal of Matignon from his cousin Marie d'Orléans de Longueville and had passed, through inheritance, to the Countess of Matignon, daughter of the Baron de Breteuil and widow of Louis Charles Auguste Goyon de Matignon (1755-1773). The castle was sold by the duchess of Montmorency, daughter of the countess of Matignon, in 1814.
