Adonis going hunting, circa 1780 Folded fan, painted skin sheet of Venus trying to hold Adonis, leaving for the hunt that will be fatal. The lovers are blowing their horns or playing with the dogs. Reverse: painted medallion of two doves in flight. Posterior signature on the left "Alph. Giroux et Cie à Paris ". White mother-of-pearl frame pierced, carved, engraved, burgundy and gilded, decorated with altars of love, and a wedding in the center. H.t. 28 cm/ H.f. 13 cm (rest.) NB: in the 19th century, the house of Alphonse Giroux was at Paris a great store of art objects and artistic curiosities. It sold in particular modern and antique fans.
