* APPARAT SERVICE DU ROI LOUIS-PHILIPPE POUR LE CHÂTEAU D'EU Manufacture royale, Sèvres, 1875-1876. Set of four flat plates, in hard porcelain, with central decoration of a polychrome flowered rosette decorated with a gold frieze, bordered by five rectangular panels in reserves decorated with polychrome flowers on a black background, alternated by five oval cartouches containing various trophies and emblems in grisaille cameo style on a pale pink background enhanced by friezes, scrolls and gold foliage on a light apple green background. These plates made in Sevres dated 1875 and 1876, were repainted later to complete the original service. Accidents, wear of time. Diam.: 24.5 cm. History: In 1844, King Louis-Philippe ordered an important service from the Sèvres factory for the Château d'Eu. The floral motifs of the pieces of this service were specially designed according to the gardens and the rural environment of the favourite summer residence of the French king. The trophies also deliberately allude to the court's leisure activities during the summer months in the Normandy countryside.
