Panel, pulled thread rebrodé, Margaret Simeon Collection, Italy, 17th or 18th century. Linen coloured with pulled thread and rebrodé in two tones of cream and ochre, cream and indigo fringes at the bottom. Perugia. Composition with three horizontal bands of heraldic motifs, at the top and bottom a frieze with three motifs in repetition: a woman with her arms raised surrounded by two lions facing each other, and the eagle with two crowned heads. In the centre, a large frieze of trapezoidal cartouches, three large flowers and two birds, and two stags in symmetry, flowers and small animals. Dim. 3,70 m x 62 cm (good condition, some halos) Provenance: Phillips sale, London, 18 March 1992, Margaret Simeon Collection.
