Mother of pearl lace, circa 1820 Very beautiful... - Lot 165 - Coutau-Bégarie
Mother of pearl lace, circa 1820 Very beautiful broken type fan in white mother-of-pearl with foliage decoration, the plumes ending in pinnacle in the neo-Gothic taste. The head cut in the shape of a clover, the rim enhanced with a turquoise stone. H.t. 17.5 cm (very good condition) In a case covered with embossed paper decorated with stars. Provenance: label with the reference 1992 of the former collection Henry-René d'Allemagne (1863-1950). This fan is illustrated in H.-R. d'Allemagne, "Les accessoires du costume et du mobilier", Paris, Schemit libraire, 1928, tome I, plate 82. NB: the very finely pierced broken type fans were in fashion from the first years of the 19th century and allowed the table makers of the Oise region (France) to show their dexterity.
