Weaving samples for an exceptional piece... - Lot 358 - Coutau-Bégarie
Weaving samples for an exceptional piece of furniture in brocade, circa 1840-1850, quilted fabric woven in curly purple silk, spun and gold blade decorated with scrolls and acanthus flowers inspired by Louis XIV for the festoons of a mantling, 25 x 62 cm. An identical copy from the Hamot fonds bore the labels FD&Cie probably for Ferdinand Duplan (Frédéric Hamot arrived in the company around 1840), the pattern nos. 3332 and 3333 and handwritten technical annotations considered to be from the hand of the manufacturer Cartier.
